Tyrese Haliburton Returns to Form as Indiana Pacers Host 76ers

Tyrese Haliburton has reestablished himself as the linchpin of the Indiana Pacers' offense in their 2026-27 season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 28, 2026. After a lengthy rehabilitation from a right Achilles tendon tear that sidelined him for an entire season, Haliburton is averaging 9.5 assists per game, ranking second in the league. This marks a significant return to form for the 26-year-old guard, who missed the previous season but is now guiding the Pacers with renewed energy and vision. (primary)

The Pacers’ offense has evolved around Haliburton’s return, with the team now ranking third in assists per game and leading in total passes per game. Their pace has quickened, and they are fifth in fast-break points, reflecting a more aggressive approach that benefits from Haliburton’s playmaking. His resumption of the pick-and-roll partnership with Pascal Siakam and introduction of new plays like the self-lob have added layers to Indiana's attack. The presence of new center Ivica Zubac also bolsters their ability to attack the rim, complementing Haliburton's style. (primary)

Haliburton has acknowledged that regaining full conditioning remains a challenge, emphasizing the importance of rebuilding his cardio and leg strength. Despite these hurdles, his ability to push the pace and orchestrate Rick Carlisle’s fluid offense demonstrates his resilience and adaptability. The Pacers are capitalizing on this momentum, improving key offensive metrics compared to last season and positioning themselves as a team to watch in the Eastern Conference. (primary)

This development confirms that Haliburton’s recovery is not just a personal milestone but a strategic advantage for Indiana. His playmaking not only elevates team performance but also reaffirms his role as the central figure in the Pacers’ evolving identity. As they prepare to face the 76ers on ESPN, Indiana’s fans can expect a team energized by their star guard’s return and a more dynamic offensive scheme. (primary)
