The Cleveland Guardians got six strikeouts from Parker Messick and hits from Travis Bazzana, Nathaniel Lowe and Patrick Bailey. What they did not get was a run. The Chicago White Sox won 3–0 on October 3, 2026, in MLB postseason play, leaving Cleveland’s individual performances on one side of the ledger and the result on the other.

Messick’s line showed both the strikeouts and the damage allowed. In 4 1/3 innings, he gave up four hits, two earned runs and two walks, with one home run allowed. Erik Sabrowski pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing one run on one hit and one walk while striking out two.

Chicago had a more productive batting line to point to in Munetaka Murakami. He went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Colson Montgomery went 2-for-3 and drove in a run. Miguel Vargas added a hit in two at-bats, drew two walks and scored once.

Grant Taylor allowed two hits across four innings for the White Sox, striking out six without walking a batter or allowing a run. Hagen Smith recorded 2 2/3 innings with no hits or runs allowed and four strikeouts, although he walked three. The contrast within Smith’s line matters: the walks were there, even with the hits and runs absent.

For Cleveland, Bazzana finished 1-for-4, Lowe went 1-for-2 with a walk, and Bailey had a hit in his one at-bat. None recorded an RBI. Steven Kwan and Jose Ramirez each went 0-for-3 with a walk. Lowe’s hit and walk gave him two different ways of reaching base, but his final line still included no run scored.
