Stephon Castle made only two field goals and still finished one point behind San Antonio’s leading scorer. His 14 made free throws helped account for an unusual 18-point line in the Spurs’ 123–103 preseason win over the Phoenix Suns on October 14, 2026.

Castle converted 14 of 15 free throws and added four rebounds and three assists. Victor Wembanyama scored 19 points on nine of 14 field-goal attempts. The two Spurs arrived at nearly identical scoring totals through sharply different shooting lines: Wembanyama made seven more field goals, while Castle made 13 more free throws.

Phoenix’s Ryan Dunn scored 15 points without missing a field goal, making all six attempts and all three free throws. Jamaree Bouyea also scored 15 and added eight assists. Those matching point totals came with different contributions beyond scoring.

San Antonio finished 20 points ahead. Castle’s free-throw line was a particularly distinctive part of the result, alongside Wembanyama’s scoring and Dunn’s accurate shooting for Phoenix.
