​The Corner Rundown: Guardians 6, Yankees 4 (April 21, 2025)​

CLEVELAND — The Guardians opened their three-game series against the Yankees with a 6–4 victory at Progressive Field, marking their fourth consecutive win and improving their record to 10–3 after a slow start to the season. 

Game Highlights:

  • José Ramírez led the offense with four RBIs, including a three-run homer in the third inning and an RBI single in the sixth.
  • Kyle Manzardo followed Ramírez’s homer with a solo shot, giving the Guardians a 4–0 lead in the third. ​
  • Gavin Williams (2–1) delivered a strong start, pitching 6⅓ innings with eight strikeouts, allowing two runs on seven hits. 
  • The Guardians added runs in the fourth and sixth innings, with Brayan Rocchio and Ramírez contributing RBI singles. ​
  • Jasson Dominguez put the Yankees on the board with a two-run homer in the seventh. 
  • In the eighth, Jazz Chisholm Jr. narrowed the gap with a two-run homer, bringing the score to 6–4. ​
  • Cade Smith secured the save by striking out Aaron Judge with the tying run at the plate in the ninth.
  • Steven KwanBrayan Rocchio, and Angel Martinez each recorded two hits, contributing to the Guardians’ 11-hit performance. 
  • The game was a rematch of the 2024 ALCS, with the Yankees entering the series on a 6–1 run. ​
